Unfortunately, the Opera Theme for Firefox is no longer being developed (as far as I can tell - I've searched for it everywhere!). The version linked to below only works with Firefox 2, which I doubt you're using.

Why hasn't this been added to addons.mozilla.com? I mean, there is no way I'm installing this thing unless it's been verified, and you also will get more hits if you post it there (e.g., put a link to this blog there and people will come). Just something to think about.

Firstly: it is, of course, your choice as to whether to install the theme from this site. It is perfectly safe, by the way!

Mike - do you mean the tabs should be above the address bar icons? This is a Firefox 'issue', but I'm sure it could be done by fiddling with userchrome.css. You used to find lots of posts on the Opera forums asking how to move the tabs below the icons; fortunately, the Opera designers have seen the light and made the alteration a relatively simple one (although the annoying default is still to have the tabs above the icons). As ever, the Firefox way seems eminently sensible, as tabs relate to to pages displayed within the Firefox window, not to the icons.
I hope you're not referring to the infamous Opera start bar. That's just plain wrong.

with firefox 1.6a1 the 'close tab button' does not appear correctly. it instead creates an invisible gap between tabs.

This may or may not work with Firefox 1.6.a!, but it is the latest available version.
It works just fine with Firefox 1.5.1, the newest full release of Firefox.

TabMixPlus can move the tabs to the top of the address-bar (like Opera).
There is also a minor bug with Firefox tabs on Windows. What seems to be the progress bar is just off and wrong.

I'm scared to guess that the reason why Mozilla isn't willing to host this file is because it has a trojan inside it, or something.
I don't think Mozilla would limit one of their selling features of "extensibility and skinnability." They should be happy that someone wants to still use their browser instead of switching to Opera. They shouldn't take offense to someone liking the Opera skin better, unless if they're going to take offense for every other skin that is made for Firefox. Seriously. See if you can get Mozilla to host this.
